If cleaning windows is somewhere near the top of that list, this local business spotlight is for you.

Because let’s face it. Cleaning windows is one of those jobs that sounds easy until you’re halfway through, the sun hits the glass just right, and suddenly you can see every streak you thought you cleaned.

That’s where Schaad’s Luxury Cleanse comes in.

How Schaad’s Luxury Cleanse Got Started

Wes Schaad started the business in 2021 as a residential cleaning company and soon brought his brother, Will, along for the ride.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Wes told me. “He’s good to work with. I like working with family.”

But window cleaning wasn’t originally the main focus of the business.

That changed when Schaad’s landed a cleaning job at West View Healthy Living in Wooster, a facility with roughly 3,000 windows.

Yes. Three thousand windows.

To handle a job that size, Wes invested in professional window-cleaning equipment. Once they had the equipment and experience, it made sense to offer window cleaning to the homeowners they were already working with.

It took off.

Today, much of Schaad’s business has shifted from general residential cleaning to residential and commercial window cleaning.

Wes and Will serve customers throughout Ashland, Medina, Wooster and Orrville, along with surrounding areas.

What Does Professional Window Cleaning Include?

If you think professional window cleaning means a quick spray and wipe, Wes and Will take it quite a bit further.

For a typical double-hung window, Schaad’s charges around $20 per window for interior and exterior cleaning, although pricing varies based on the size and type of window.

That service can include the glass, screens, tracks, sills and frames.

They also have the equipment needed to reach second-story windows and taller commercial buildings, using extension ladders, stack ladders and other equipment depending on the property.

And their secret window-cleaning solution isn’t nearly as fancy as you might expect.

It’s Dawn dish soap and water.

According to Wes, Dawn is commonly used in the professional window-cleaning industry. The trick is using the right amount. Too much soap can actually cause streaks.

They also use tools such as #0000 steel wool and razor blades when needed to remove stubborn material from glass. To finish the job, they use recycled surgical towels on the glass because they do a great job of picking up moisture without leaving streaks or smears.

More Than Windows

While window cleaning has become a big part of the company, Schaad’s Luxury Cleanse has continued to expand its services.

They now offer:

• Residential and commercial window cleaning
• Commercial janitorial services
• Carpet cleaning
• Pressure washing

For carpet cleaning, they use commercial cleaning products and hot-water extraction equipment to lift dirt and debris from carpet fibers.

Wes told me he especially enjoys the janitorial side of the business, while window cleaning may be Will’s favorite.

The company is also looking to grow its commercial janitorial business in the Ashland, Wooster and Orrville areas. They already have long-term commercial clients and typically perform janitorial work after business hours.

I Can Speak From Experience

Wes and Will clean the windows at my own home, so I’ve seen their work firsthand.

In fact, after they started cleaning windows in my neighborhood, word traveled pretty quickly. They ended up cleaning the windows at almost every home in the neighborhood, and everyone I spoke with was pleased with their work.

I’ve also referred Schaad’s Luxury Cleanse to several home sellers before we put their homes on the market, and clean windows can make a bigger difference than you might think. They look better in listing photos, but it’s also one of those little details buyers notice when they walk up to a home.

Clean glass catches the light and makes the windows glisten. Cobwebs, dirt and 25 years of dried water spots? Buyers notice those, too. And that’s probably not the first impression we’re going for.

What started as a residential cleaning company in 2021 has grown into a local business serving homeowners and commercial clients across the area.
